MERCER COUNTY Sentencing court


The following people were sentenced recently in Mercer County Common Pleas Court. According to court documents:

Scott Baird, 34, address given as Mercer County Jail, was sentenced to three to 23 months in jail for misdemeanor simple assault and two summary counts of harassment. He punched three inmates Feb. 18, while incarcerated in the Mercer County Jail, causing one to have a nosebleed and black eye. The other two were not injured.

Randy Daye, 19, of West Cornell Road, Mercer, was resentenced on a probation violation to 90 days to 23 months in the Mercer County Jail for theft by unlawful taking or disposition, a misdemeanor. Daye was sentenced in August 2007 to one year probation for stealing a $247 electronic balance from the Mercer High School, 545 W. Butler St., Mercer, while he was a student there. His probation was revoked because of a probation violation.

Erica Hanna, 33, of Sciota Street, New Castle, was sentenced to six days to one year in the Mercer County Jail for disorderly conduct, a misdemeanor. On Oct. 19, 2007, she struggled with Sharon police officers who were trying to arrest her on Baldwin Avenue, Sharon, requiring them to use a Taser twice.

Scott Miller, 44, of River Road, Hermitage, was resentenced on a probation violation to one to two years in jail for theft by unlawful taking, a misdemeanor. He had been placed on two years probation in October 2005 for taking another man’s credit card and making $879 in purchases with it in Sharon and Hermitage.

Lemuel Pineiro-Malick, 25, of North Third Street, Sharpsville, was resentenced on a probation violation to nine to 23 months in the Mercer County Jail with work release for misdemeanor receiving stolen property. He had been placed on three years probation in February 2006 for stealing items belonging to his roommates at a Pitt Street, Sharon apartment, then staging a crime scene to make it look like a burglary.

Michelle Shaffer, 45, of Columbia Avenue, Greenville, was resentenced on a probation violation to 90 days to 23 months in the Mercer County Jail for misdemeanor forgery. She was given credit for 67 days served and is eligible for work release. She pleaded guilty to the charge in connection with a 2003 theft of 15 checks from a West Middlesex residence.

Rachine Smith, 21, of Negley Street, Farrell, was placed on two years probation for theft by unlawful taking, a misdemeanor. While an employee at Kmart, 2235 E. State St., Hermitage, she under-rang merchandise for people she knew, resulting in an $881 loss for the store.

Howard Becker, 52, of Beatty School Road, Perry Township, was sentenced to three to 18 months in the Mercer County Jail for two counts of misdemeanor involuntary manslaughter for the June 6, 2004, traffic deaths of Robert and Waeta Campbell, both 72, of Salem Township. Becker failed to stop his motor vehicle at a stop sign at Hyde Hill and Greenville-Sheakleyville roads, Salem Township, and collided with the Campbell vehicle, which had the right of way.

Christina Little, 25, also known as Christina Sheirer, of Quinter Road, Hadley, was sentenced to 30 months’ probation, fined $300 and ordered to make restitution for acquisition of a controlled substance by fraud, a felony, as well as a consolidated count of retail theft, access device fraud, false identification to law enforcement and theft by unlawful taking, all misdemeanors, and driving during suspension, a summary offense. She refilled another person’s prescription for hydrocodone pills without his permission Sept. 2, 2007. She also stole $255 worth of meat from Sparkle Market, Reynolds Plaza, Transfer, and $211 worth of meat from the Greenville Giant Eagle. She used a credit card issued to another woman Jan. 11 or 12, 2007, without her permission at various county locations, took several personal checks and a credit card from a Salem Township woman between May and July 2007 and used them to buy $1,039 worth of goods and services. She identified herself to police as another woman with a false address and birth date at a 2008 traffic stop on Pa. Route 18 while apprehended for driving during suspension.

Zachery Mellring, 21, was resentenced to one to three years in jail for forgery and criminal trespass, both misdemeanors. He had been on probation for the offenses, but the probation was revoked when he pleaded guilty recently to new criminal charges. He was given credit for 264 days already served.

Gary Morini, 43, of 10th Street, West Pittsburgh, was sentenced to 84 days to one year in jail and ordered to make restitution for bad checks, a misdemeanor. He wrote a check in November 2005 that he knew would not be honored.
