Geiger, Klink named coaches at Bethany
The area women are among six new assistant coaches at the West Virginia college.
BETHANY, W.Va. — Two Youngstown-area women are among six new assistant coaches named at Bethany College to start the 2008-09 school year.
Ellie Geiger from West Branch High and Mount Union College, will be an assistant basketball coach for Rebecca Upton.
Molly Klink from East Liverpool High and Thiel College will join the volleyball staff of coach Courtney Kline.
Geiger was a four-year letter-winner on the Mount Union women’s basketball team, and an All-Ohio Athletic Conference honorable mention as a senior.
Geiger played in 105 career games, including 81 starts at point guard, and helped the Purple Raiders qualify for the OAC tournament semifinals each of the last two years.
While at West Branch, Geiger was a captain and starting point guard on the 2004 team that went 26-1 and won the Division II state championship.
Geiger is a 2008 Mount Union graduate.
While coaching Bethany, she also will be studying for a master’s degree at West Virginia University.
Klink played for three seasons of volleyball for Thiel and was an All-Presidents’ Athletic Conference honorable mention.
While at East Liverpool, she led the Potters to the Ohio Valley Athletic Conference Class AAAA championship in 2003, and that year also was selected OVAC player of the year.
Klink graduated from Thiel in 2007.
