Family gathering honors Ihnats on anniversary


• RICHMOND HEIGHTS — The home of Mr. and Mrs. Nicholas Ihnat, 4956 Swetland Blvd., was the setting June 14 as family members and invited guests gathered to honor the couple on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of their wedding.

Afterward, a Mass of celebration for the Ihnats took place at St. Stephen Byzantine Church in Euclid, where they are members, and a family reception followed at J.B. Milano’s Restaurant.

Their family includes Agnes and Ken Root of Pulaski, Pa., JoAnn and Mike Bohonik of West Middlesex, Pa., and Nicholas Ihnat of Twinsburg; four grandchildren, Ken Root of Pulaski, Andy Root of New Castle, and Caitlyn and Jill Ihnat of Twinsburg; and one great-grandchild, Logan Avery of Austintown.

The former Agnes Yuhas and Mr. Ihnat were married June 14, 1958, at St. Michael Byzantine Church in Campbell.

They lived in Campbell until 1972 when Mr. Ihnat, who was employed by Jergens Inc., was transferred to Cleveland, where he was a shipping manager until retiring in 2001. He is active with the Knights of Columbus and the Holy Name Society.

Mrs. Ihnat was employed by Dalton Inc. in Willoughby until the clothing and apparel store closed. Afterward she worked in production for Spray-On, a subsidiary of Sherwin-Williams, until retiring in 1999. Both are employed part time by Disk Copy in Mayfield in assembly and shipping.

As part of their anniversary celebration, the Ihnats took a spring cruise to Mexico, spent time on the Gulf shores in Alabama, and visited family members in Arkansas.
