10 arrested at OVI checkpoints in Austintown, Youngstown


YOUNGSTOWN — Police made 10 arrests on charges of operating a vehicle impaired in two sobriety checks over the weekend in Austintown and the West Side of Youngstown.

The Mahoning County OVI Task Force formed the “Zero Tolerance Blitz” to crack down on drivers operating a vehicle while intoxicated.

The checks took place from 11 p.m. to 3 a.m. Friday and Saturday.

Police aslo handed out 45 other citations for such offenses as driving under suspension, seat belt violations and speed. One felony arrest was made.

The next sobriety checkpoint for Mahoning County will be Friday rom 10 p.m. to 2 a.m.
