Centenary UMC celebrates

YOUNGSTOWN — Centenary United Methodist Church, 1413 Belmont Ave., will mark its 90th anniversary in September. A banquet is planned at 6 p.m. Sept. 13 at The Georgetown, 5945 South Ave., Boardman. A worship celebration will take place at 11 a.m. Sept. 14 at the church with guest pastor Dr. Myron F. McCoy, president of the St. Paul School of Theology in Kansas City, Mo., and the first African-American president of a UM seminary.

Evangelist at center

YOUNGSTOWN — Everlife Worship Center, 474 Early Road, will host evangelist Tonya Hall of Jacksonville, Fla., at 7 p.m. Friday and at 10:30 a.m. Aug. 23.

Ministry plans trips

LEETONIA — Jesus the Key Ministries, founded by Bing Newton, has planned fall trips. They are Sept. 26, Gaither concert in Pittsburgh, $75; Oct. 30, Sugarcreek trip to Amish country, $40; and Dec. 10 and 11, Lancaster to the American Music Theatre’s Christmas concert, Dutch Apple Dinner Theatre’s “Christmas Carol,” and the “Miracle of Christmas Show.”

Labyrinth walk

Villa Maria, Pa. — Villa Maria Education and Spirituality Center will hold a guided labyrinth walk, “Path of Peace,” from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday. The walk continues the 10-year anniversary celebration of the outdoor labyrinth.

Special music on the Celtic harp will be provided by Kirk Kupensky. Sister Therese Pavilonis will offer a brief history of the labyrinth, which has been a spiritual tool for centuries. First Friday Club

BOARDMAN — The First Friday Club of Greater Youngstown will meet Sept. 4 at Antone’s Banquet Centre, Market Street. The featured speaker will be John Allen, speaking about “Megatrends in Catholicism: 10 Forces Turning the Church Upside Down.” He is a senior correspondent for the National Catholic Reporter and the Vatican analyst for CNN and National Public Radio.

Street meeting

FARRELL, Pa. — New and Living Way Apostolic Church, 927 Lee Ave., will hold its annual street meeting at 6:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and from noon to 4 p.m. Aug. 23 in Veterans Square, Darr Avenue. There will be free refreshments and clothing along with fellowship and music.

EAST PALESTINE — The Rev. Mark McTrusty, pastor at Emmanuel United Methodist Church, will be guest pastor for the 10:30 a.m. Sunday service at First United Presbyterian Church, 109 W. Rebecca St. The Rev. Mr. McTrustry is a student a Pittsburgh Theological Seminary.

Inspirational speaker

NORTH LIMA — Bob Mortimer of Gig Harbor, Wash., an inspirational speaker and president of Bob Mortimer Motivational Ministries, will deliver a talk on “Hope and Courage Tour” during the 9:30 a.m. service Sunday at North Lima Mennonite Church, 90 Mennonite Drive. Mortimer, a triple amputee, and his family are bicycling across the country and hope to reach the Statue of Liberty in New York on Sept. 11.

Olympics for children

NEW CASTLE, Pa. — Calvary Temple Worship Center will hold a summer olympics program for children from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday in the parking lot of Epworth United Methodist Church, 805 E. Washington St. The event is for children 3 years old through sixth grade who can compete in track, weight lifting, gymnastics, target skill, obstacle course and jousting.
