Boardman police crack down on impaired driving
BOARDMAN — The Boardman Police Department will join thousands of other law enforcement agencies throughout the country in support of an intensive crackdown on impaired driving through Labor Day weekend. “We are going to be intensifying our enforcement efforts with increased officer presence during high-risk nighttime hours when impaired drivers are most likely to be on our roads,” said Boardman traffic Sgt. John Allsopp.
The department will be supplementing its regular patrols with high-visibility enforcement patrols, as well as participation in area sobriety checkpoints and saturation blitzes. The funding for the extra patrols is provided by the Mahoning County OVI Task Force and the Ohio Department of Public Safety’s Ohio Traffic Safety Office.
Citizens suspecting a drunk driver on the road can call Boardman police at 330-726-4144.
