Rib Smoke Off, auction will benefit charity

LISBON — The second annual Rib Smoke Off and Auction will be from noon to 8 p.m. Saturday at Csonka’s Sports Complex on State Route 45. Sponsored by Columbiana County’s Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities board, the event will include a variety of rib cookers. Returning will be defending champion Texas Roadhouse, and East Liverpool Motor Lodge, the defending People’s Choice winner.

A classic car show, poker run and children activities are also planned. Registration begins at 11 a.m. for the car show and 10 a.m. for the poker run.

Live entertainment will include Paul Lake (square dancing), Dan Bing (karaoke), and the Route 45 band.

The live auction begins at 3 p.m. Items up for bid include autographed footballs from Lou Holtz and Larry Csonka; a replica Notre Dame football jersey worn by John Huarte, winner of the 1964 Heisman Trophy; a photo of the Steelers Steel Curtain autographed by Joe Greene, Ernie Holmes, L.C. Greenwood and Dwight White; an autographed Bill Mazeroski baseball jersey; a Jerome Bettis autographed football card; an autographed football from the; a variety of autographed pieces from NASCAR; jewelry from James Locke Jewelers; and even a miniature horse and donkey.

All proceeds benefit people with developmental disabilities in Columbiana County.
