Red Hawk Powwow is scheduled at Willow Ranch
COITSVILLE — The annual Red Hawk Powwow, an American Indian gathering with dancing, drumming and singing, will be from be 10 a.m. to dusk Saturday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday at Willow Ranch, South Hubbard Road.
Many Indian nations from across the United States and Canada will be represented, and spectators will be able to view the differences between the different nations in regard to clothing and customs. There will be modern American Indian foods, and arts and crafts will be on display and available for sale. There will also be a Chinese auction, raffles and pony rides.
Storytellers will highlight the festival, including Rev. Sidney Byrd, a lecturer and historian, and Dolores Santha. Drum sessions will be provided by Yellow Creek Singers, Bird Chopper, MacKenzie River and Elk Trail.
The cost for adults is $4; children 6-12 and seniors are $3; children under 5 are free.
The event is funded by the Ohio Arts Council and private donations.
