Bones belong to woman, forensic experts say
GREENVILLE, Pa. — The arm bones found last Thursday in the basement of a house belonged to a young- to middle-aged woman, forensics experts have concluded. The Department of Forensic Sciences at Mercyhurst College in Erie examined the three bones found as a house at 103 Shenango St. was torn down.
The woman would have been around 5 feet 5 inches tall, said the Greenville/West Salem Police Department and Mercer County Deputy Coroner John Libonati. The bones were likely there for 10 or more years, the examiners concluded. Their report says the bones could be an anatomical specimen.
Libonati said the bones did not show evidence of having been cut. Police said they and the coroner’s office will continue to investigate.
