YOUNGSTOWN — A 46-year-old man who robbed a middle-aged woman of $600 and her credit cards and caused her to suffer a hairline hip fracture in a fall as she left St. Elizabeth Health Center has been sentenced to six years in prison.

Judge James C. Evans of Mahoning County Common Pleas Court imposed the time Wednesday on Rodric Jennings, of Delaware Avenue, who was convicted by a jury last month of committing the robbery Jan. 5, 2006.

After visiting her hospitalized mother, the robbery victim was walking to her car, which was in a hospital parking deck, when Jennings grabbed her purse, struggled with her and ran away. In the struggle, Jennings and the victim fell onto the icy pavement.

Based on the victim’s description, Jennings was arrested by hospital police two hours later near the hospital.
