Body found on South Side

YOUNGSTOWN — Police are investigating the city’s latest homicide, reported on the South Side late Wednesday morning.

Police found the body of Jajuan Robbins, 20, inside a home at Cain Street and Hylda Avenue. They were called to the house on a report of a body inside.

When officers arrived, a man flagged them down, telling them that he had spoken by cell phone to Robbins on Tuesday evening. When the man arrived at the Cain Street home Wednesday morning, there was no answer at the door.

He told police that he looked through a window and saw a body on the floor. He crawled through a bathroom window of the home, but when he saw blood on the body, he backed through the window and called 911, a police report said.

Police saw bullets on the kitchen counter and blood on the living room wall, carpet and fireplace. A small gun was found on the floor along with the top half of a broken bottle with what appeared to be blood inside it, the report said.

They found Robbins’ body in a southwest bedroom. His throat had been cut, the police report noted.

This is the city’s 19th homicide of the year.
