Tigers cruise past Scrappers
Early runs led Oneonta’s 8-4 victory over visiting Mahoning Valley.
ONEONTA, N.Y. — The Oneonta Tigers scored two runs in each of the first four innings and coasted to an 8-4 victory over the Mahoning Valley Scrappers Tuesday at Damaschke Field.
The Scrappers (23-31) could manage just five hits off the Tigers pitching, while Tim Fedroff and Robert Alcombrack had two each, including an RBI double by Alcombrack.
Mahoning Valley used six pitchers in the contest with starter Kaimi Mead (4-6) taking the loss.
Oneona pounded out 15 hits of the Scrappers, including three by Carlos Ramirez, while Billy Nowin had a home run and two RBIs for the Tigers.
The two teams will meet in the second game of their series tonight at 7.
