FOOD SALES AND DINNERS | Sit-down and takeout events planned


THURSDAY

• Col. Louis J. Campbell VFW Post 3538, 157 Lowellville Road, Struthers, will sell spaghetti dinners from 4 to 7 p.m. Meals will be served with meatballs, salad, bread and butter, and coffee. Cost is $6 for adults and $3 for children under 8. Carryout orders are $6.50 and will be available only until 6 p.m. Containers will be provided.

• VFW Triangle Post 2799 Auxiliary, 3161 E. South Range Road, New Springfield, will serve spaghetti dinners with meatballs, salad, bread and coffee or tea from 4 to 7 p.m. . The cost is $6 for adults and $3 for children under 10. Carryout meals are $6.25.

FRIDAY

• American Legion Post 290, state Route 14, Columbiana, will hold an all-you-can-eat fish fry from 4 to 7 p.m. Meals include coleslaw, macaroni and cheese, french fries, dessert and coffee. The cost is $9 for adults and $4 for children 12 and under. Carryouts will be available. Open-mic night will be from 9 to 2 a.m. The kitchen is open to the public from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., and daily specials are: Tuesday, stuffed peppers; Wednesday, wings and ribs; Thursday, tacos; Friday, fish; and Saturday, burgers.

SATURDAY

• First United Methodist Church of Mineral Ridge, 3711 Main St., is sponsoring a spaghetti dinner and auction as a benefit for 5-year-old Jacob Sypert, the son of Bill and Joy (Hostutler) Sypert, who has leukemia. Dinners will be served from 4 to 6:30 p.m. The cost is $8 for adults, $4 for children 6 to 12 and free for those 5 and younger.

• North Lima Mennonite Church, 90 Mennonite Drive, will sponsor a chicken barbecue from 4 to 7 p.m.

SUNDAY

• Auxiliary of VFW Triangle Post 2799, 3161 E. South Range Road, New Springfield, will serve breakfasts of eggs, sausage or ham, hash browns, pancakes, freedom toast, toast, and coffee or tea from 8 a.m. to noon. Meals are $5 for adults and $3 for children under 10. A la carte will also be available.

• Capt. Charles M. Marino Post 3, Italian-American War Veterans, 113 S. Meridian Road, Youngstown, will serve spaghetti dinners from noon to 5 p.m. The cost is $6 for adults and $3.50 for children 6 to 10. Those 5 and under may eat for free. Carryouts will be available; containers can be purchased or patrons may provide their own.

• The men’s group of Pleasant Grove Presbyterian Church, 3919 Southern Blvd., Youngstown, will have its annual community corn roast from 4 to 6:30 p.m. All-you-can-eat hot dogs and corn will be served with a beverage and cake. Cost is $6 for adults and $3 for children.

• Potential Development and Help Hotline Crisis Center will sponsor a pasta dinner from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Local 66 Operating Engineers Hall, 291 McClurg Road, Boardman. Meals include meatballs, salad, bread, dessert and coffee. The cost is $6 for adults and $4 for children 12 and under. Takeouts will be available. • Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish Hall, 702 Cameron Ave., Youngstown, will be the setting from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. for a harvest dinner featuring stuffed cabbage, parsley potatoes, vegetable, pickled beets, dill pickles, bread, coffee or tea, and homemade desserts. UPCOMING

• Rotary Club of Champion is sponsoring an Amish dinner with serving from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Sept. 20. The all-you-can-eat buffet-style meals will include roast beef, baked chicken, old-fashioned stuffing, mashed potatoes and gravy, homemade bread, green beans, coleslaw, and a variety of pies and desserts. The cost is $12 for patrons 13 and older, $6 for children 6 to 12, and free for those 5 and under. Only a limited number of walk-ins will be accepted.
