Paving contract awarded

YOUNGSTOWN — The Mahoning County commissioners have awarded a $503,586 contract to Shelly Co. of North Jackson for the resurfacing of Bailey Road from Mahoning Avenue to Silica Road in Jackson Township.

The job, for which Shelly was the sole bidder, was awarded Tuesday with work to begin in about a week and last about a month, said Richard Marsico, county engineer.

At least one lane of traffic in each direction will be maintained throughout the project, which is being funded by a no-interest, 10-year loan from the Ohio Public Works Commission.
