Sewage video approved
YOUNGSTOWN — Mahoning County commissioners have approved a $4,950 agreement for the design and production of a 3-D animation video that will depict the path of sewage from its origin through the waste treatment plant and the discharge of treated water into local streams, rivers and lakes. The video, which commissioners approved Tuesday to be funded by sewer use fees, will be showcased at the Canfield Fair and shown to school and community groups, said Joseph Warino, county sanitary engineer.
The new video, which will replace an outdated one, is to be produced by George Farris and Associates of Boardman. The goal is to educate the public not to flush down the toilet paints, oils, gasoline and chemical pollutants that sewage plants aren’t prepared to treat, Warino said.
