Kids removed from house
DAYTON (AP) — Child-welfare workers on Tuesday removed five young children from a house where they were found with little food and no sign of medicine for a child with asthma, authorities said.
Dayton police Sgt. Bill Keller said the children’s father and possibly other adults were at the house Tuesday morning when someone from the home called 911 to report that a 2-year-old boy was having an asthma attack.
“The medic crew said the child was barely breathing,” Keller said. “It was a very bad situation.”
Keller said the house smelled strongly of urine, and mattresses without sheets were arranged on the floor for the family to sleep on. The only food found in the house was two cans of corn.
