5 Scrappers are invited to All-Star Game


TROY, N.Y. – Five members of the Mahoning Valley Scrappers have been selected for the New York-Penn League All-Star game that will be played Tuesday at Joseph L. Bruno Stadium in Troy.

The Scrappers will be represented by pitcher Eric Berger, catcher Robert Alcombrack, first baseman Brock Simpson, second baseman Isaias Velasquez and shortstop Lonnie Chisenhall.

Alcombrack is batting .283 (28-of-99) in 31 games for the Scrappers, which one home run and 10 RBIs. He has a .744 on-base percentage.

Simpson is batting .304 (45-of-148) in 39 games this season; he has two homers and 17 RBIs, and has a .785 OBP.

Velasquez is batting .303 (57-of-188) with one homer and 16 RBIs in 48 games for Mahoning Valley.

He recently had a 17-game hitting streak. He also shares the team lead with six stolen bases.

Chisenhall is batting .272 (53-of-195) with four home runs (he shares the team lead) and a team-best 33 RBIs in 47 games. Chisenhall also has six stolen bases.
