Update: One killed and one wounded this morning in Warren robbery

WARREN— One person was shot to death and another seriously wounded this morning during a robbery at a North Park Avenue restaurant and social club.

Police are looking for at least one black man who went into Freddie’s Diner, 1125 North Park Ave., apparently to rob it shortly before 9 a.m.

One man could be seen lying the doorway of the adjoining Sons of Italy Lodge 2356.

The Trumbull County Coroneer’s office was on the scene and a second victim was taken to Forum Health Trumbull Memorial Hospital.

There were customers in the diner, which opens for business about 6 a.m. and closes in mid-afternoon.

“The restaurant always has customers in it,” said Joyce Turrill, of Warren, a bartender at Lodge 2356.

Police Lt. Gary Vingle said the robbery started in the diner and continued into the connected lodge.

A police dog was at the scene at about 10 a.m. in an effort to track the robber.
