Former ‘Bond’ actor will fight custody claim

LOS ANGELES — Former James Bond actor George Lazenby says he will fight Pam Shriver’s claim for custody over the couple’s three young children. Shriver, a former tennis star, has filed for divorce from Lazenby and cited “irreconcilable differences” for ending their six-year marriage.

The 68-year-old Lazenby said Sunday through spokesman Michael Sands that he loves his children “very much” and will seek sole legal and physical custody. Shriver has said she will seek custody with supervised visits for Lazenby.

The 46-year-old Shriver won 22 Grand Slam doubles titles and has served as a tennis commentator since retiring.

Lazenby starred as James Bond in “On Her Majesty’s Secret Service.” The couple are due in court Aug. 25.

‘Heroes’ star’s father faces assault charge

LOS ANGELES — The father of “Heroes” star Hayden Panettiere was arrested early Monday on suspicion of hitting his wife, authorities said. Alan Panettiere was arrested by Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputies in West Hollywood, jail records show. Sheriff’s spokesman Steve Whitmore said Panettiere remained jailed at a substation on suspicion of spousal assault, and was being held on $50,000 bail.

Whitmore said the wife reported to deputies that he struck her three times with an open hand.

Los Angeles court records do not indicate any prior charges for the 49-year-old father of Hayden Panettiere, who plays Claire Bennett on NBC’s hit show, “Heroes.”
