Teen arrested after threatening mom with knife
BOARDMAN — A 16-year-old South Avenue boy was charged with making threats of domestic violence, accused of waving a butcher knife at his mother.
Police were called to the South Avenue home about 10:30 p.m. Friday. Officers talked to both the boy and his mother, 41, with the woman telling them she and the boy are having ongoing problems. After the latest argument, she said, the boy grabbed a butcher knife from the drying rack and waved it around, demanding he be allowed to stay with another relative.
When the woman said no, the boy began waving the knife within inches of his mother’s face, saying that he didn’t care if he went to the county juvenile justice center, police reported the woman said.
The boy acknowledged threatening his mother with the knife saying that it was wrong and that he shouldn’t have done it but that he wasn’t really going to use it.
The boy was arrested on the misdemeanor charge and taken to the juvenile justice center.
