Michigan man dies in fall from North Lima water tower

NORTH LIMA — A 43-year-old man who was working on a water tower this afternoon fell to his death.

Richard Martin of River Rouge, Mich., was believed to be an employee of the company hired to paint the water tower off of South Avenue Extension. The tower is owned Aqua Ohio. He fell about 83 feet, said Lt. Dan Lewis of Beaver Police. “He was wearing all of the required safety gear — helmet, harness, breathing apparatus,” the lieutenant said. The man fell about 2:15 p.m. Officials from the Mahoning County Coroner’s office and the federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration are investigating.
