McDONALD — A mandatory meeting for parents of all new open-enrollment pupils in the village school district will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in the high school auditorium.
High school Principal Gary Carkido, elementary Principal Tony Russo and Superintendent Michael Wasser will speak.
Tours also will be conducted.
Trumbull Farm Bureau
CORTLAND — The Trumbull County Farm Bureau will have its annual meeting at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Garden Brook, 4820 state Route 5.
Highlights include election of trustees and delegates to state meeting, awarding the Tom Schwartz Environmental Friendly Farmer Award and scholarship recipients. David Pennington, state bureau assistant director of agriculture law, will be guest speaker.

Free-firewood dates
YOUNGSTOWN — Mill Creek MetroParks’ wood storage lot on West Golf Drive, just south of Stitt Pavilion, will be open Saturday and Aug. 23 for people who want to cut and load firewood.
There is no fee for the firewood, but individuals must bring a chainsaw. The lot will be open from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
No firewood can be removed from Mahoning County because of the quarantine for Emerald Ash Borer. Moving firewood illegally is punishable by fines of up to $4,000.
Only 15 vehicles will be allowed in the storage lot at a time. Trucks larger than pickup size and trailers attached to trucks aren’t permitted.
Howland tire pickup
HOWLAND — The township will conduct a curbside scrap tire collection for residents only. Residents can place a maximum of eight passenger-car tires at the curb with no rims before 8 a.m. Saturday. No truck tires will be accepted.
Psychic Fair canceled
WARREN — The Animal Welfare League of Trumbull County has canceled its Psychic Fair originally set for Saturday.
It will be rescheduled for early 2009, league officials said.
Barbecue, talent show
WARREN — Families are invited to the Warren Ampitheater on Sunday for a free barbecue and talent show.
The third annual Family Gathering Barbeque, hosted by Family Tree Entertainment L.L.C., will handle the grilling and award a winning talent with $100.
The cookout will run from 2 to 4 p.m., followed by the talent show. Contestants must be between 9 and 20. Regional bands will perform until 8. A raffle for back-to-school supplies and other prizes also will occur.
