Tigers in playoffs
CANFIELD — The Penn-Ohio Tigers will play host to the Pittsburgh Mayhem in a Grassroots Professional Football League playoff game at Canfield High Stadium Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
The Tigers finished their inaugural season with a 5-3 record and second-place finish in the conference.
Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children.
Titans take regional
YOUNGSTOWN — The Ohio Titans pushed across two runs in the top of the tenth inning Sunday to defeat Walthers/Mallonns 5-3 in the championship of the NABF regional baseball tournament.
Walthers/Mallonns scored twice in the third inning and raised its lead to 3-0 in the sixth inning.
The Titans batted around and scored three times in the eighth to knot the game.
Steve Hajdin singled three times and Jim Putko added a single and a double in a 12-hit attack by the Titans.
In relief, Grant Martin threw a three-inning no-hitter to get the win.

Mahut advances
WASHINGTON — Nicolas Mahut beat Wayne Odesnik 4-6, 6-4, 6-4 in the opening match of the Legg Mason Tennis Classic on Sunday.
Mahut, ranked No. 83 in the world, had 17 aces, including one in the final game that helped him rally from down 30-0.
Mahut, who said he had taken the past two weeks off to rest his sore wrist, will face the winner of today’s match between fourth-seeded Tommy Hass and qualifier Rik De Voest.
Angel leads Red Bulls
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. — Juan Pablo Angel scored two goals to lead the New York Red Bulls to a 4-1 win over D.C. United on Sunday.
Sinisa Ubiparipovic added his first career MLS goal and Mike Magee also scored for the Red Bulls (6-6-7), who snapped a five-game winless streak.
Jaime Moreno gave D.C. United (8-9-1) the early lead in the 16th minute when he headed in a crossing pass for his eighth goal of the season, beating Red Bulls goalie Jon Conway.
Angel then tied the game when he beat goalie Zach Wells on a direct free kick in the 27th minute for his fifth goal of the season, and the Red Bulls went ahead for good just before halftime when Magee scored his second goal of the season.
Curtis clinches spot on Ryder Cup team
BLOOMFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. — Ben Curtis will have to ditch the NFL apparel next month for the Stars Stripes. A runner-up finish in the PGA Championship on Sunday earned him his first trip to the Ryder Cup.
“I love Ben Curtis a lot, and I love the fact he’s made the team,” U.S. captain Paul Azinger said.
Curtis (Kent State) lost out on a chance to win another major when he bogeyed two of the last four holes at Oakland Hills, but only later did he realize the consolation prize. His tie for second moved him from No. 20 to No. 7 in the standings, earning him one of the eight automatic spots in the qualifying that ended with the PGA Championship.
Wienen wins AMA Pro
HURRICANE MILLS, Tenn. — Chad Wienen won the AMA Pro ATV season finale Sunday sweeping the motos for his second straight victory at Loretta Lynn Ranch.
Wienen, from Galena, Ill., edged Dustin Wimmer, the fellow Suzuki rider who clinched the season championship two weeks ago. Josh Creamer was third.
Travolta captures Monmouth feature
OCEANPORT, N.J. — Travolta took command as the field turned for home and went on to a 41‚Ñ2-length victory over Museeb in the $60,000 My Frenchman Stakes at Monmouth Park on Sunday.
The 4-year-old gelding ridden by David Cohen and trained by Jason Servis covered the 51‚Ñ2 furlongs in 1:03 4-5 over a good main track and earned $5.40, $3.20 and $2.20.
Motocross tragedy
STAFFORD, Conn. — Connecticut police are investigating the death of a 21-year-old motocross rider who died Saturday after crashing during practice at a racetrack.
Anthony Hart of Henderson, Nev., was critically injured when he lost control of his motorcycle and hit an outer track barricade at Stafford Motor Speedway on Saturday, police said.
