YOUNGSTOWN — The Wolves Club Den VI of Youngstown, a nonprofit Italian-American fraternal organization, has scheduled a golf outing for Aug. 25 at Fonderlac Country Club in Springfield as its major fundraiser for its scholarship program.
Area golfers are invited to participate in the event, which will be a two best ball of four shamble contest.
The event will get under way with registration and lunch at 11:30 a.m. Play will begin with a shotgun start at 1 p.m. Admission to the outing includes lunch, an Italian dinner (and open bar) gifts, prizes and awards.
Each year the outing not only provides an opportunity for friendship and camaraderie, but is also the major source of funds for scholarships for local students who will attend Youngstown State University.
During the past year $43,000 in YSU scholarships were awarded students who are pursuing a higher education. An additional $2,000 was donated by the club to St. Elizabeth Health Center School of Nursing.
Fees for tickets and sponsorships are as follows: golfers, $175; hole sponsorships, $125; and a Wolves Sponsorship, which includes admission for four golfers and a hole sponsorship, $750.
Local businesses or individuals interested in participating are asked to call the event chairman, Mike Dercoli, (330) 729-2630. Donations to the scholarship program should be made in the name of Wolves Scholarship and Charitable Trust, and sent to Butler Wick, 8286 South Ave., Youngstown, OH 44512.
