Soap star to greet fans at Eastwood Mall
NILES — NBC soap star Shawn Christian will make an appearance at the Eastwood Mall, 5555 Youngstown-Warren Road, today at noon until 3 p.m.
Christian plays Dr. Daniel Jonas on “Days of Our Lives” and has had roles on numerous shows including, “As the World Turns,” “Crossing Jordan,” and “Charmed.”
Courtesy of WFMJ, Christian will be signing autographs and meeting with fans in front of the WFMJ location as part of Eastwood Mall’s back to school weekend.
Youngstown Connection Performs at Park Vista
Park Vista invites the community to a performance of The Youngstown Connection on Tuesday from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on the front lawn, 1216 Fifth Ave., Youngstown.

‘A Place in the Sun’ at Yellow Creek Theatre
Yellow Creek Theatre in Poland Village will be featuring the 1951 film “A Place in the Sun” at 9 p.m. Friday.
Based on Theodore Dreiser’s novel “An American Tragedy,” this classic American film focuses on the enthralling story of the real-life murder of Grace Brown by her boyfriend, Chester Gillette, in New York in 1906.
Music by The Blue Rays, a blues-rock band, precedes the film, starting at 6:30 p.m.
The theater is located under the Rt. 224 bridge, adjacent to the Poland Library parking lot, 311 South Main St., Poland.
Admission is free and open to the public. Parking is available at the Poland Library, The Village Pantry, or across the street at the Town Hall.

‘Through the Years ...’ displayed in Ashtabula
The Ashtabula Arts Center, 2928 W. 13th St., Ashtabula, will display the work of two local artists, Duane and Dorothy Searl throughout August. “Through the Years...” will be displayed through August 27.
An opening reception will be held 6-8 p.m. Friday. Admission to both the reception and exhibit are free.
The collection on exhibit is a selection of the many works this long-married couple completed throughout their years together.
The exhibit will include watercolors, wood carvings and oil paintings.
The gallery opens at 9 a.m. Monday through Saturday and also opens before all Straw Hat Theatre performances and during intermission. For more information call the Arts Center at (440) 964-3396.
Outdoor jazz series at B O Station today
Howard the Point 5 Band will perform today at the B O Station, 530 Mahoning Ave.
The band will play 3-6 p.m.
Jazz in the Park will take place rain or shine and will be moved inside the B O facility in case of rain.

Steel Museum presents Civil War show
On Saturday at 2 p.m., the Steel Museum, 151 W. Wood St., Youngstown, will present a Civil War Historical Show by local historian Steffon Wydell Jones.
Cost for adults is $7, seniors $6 and children $3. The show will portray two civil war soldiers, one a medal of honor winner and the other a confederate black soldier.
