Scrappers drilled in Jamestown, 12-2

JAMESTOWN, N.Y. — The Mahoning Valley Scrappers surrendered four home runs and 18 hits en route to a 12-2 loss to the first-place Jamestown Jammers in a New York-Penn League game on Friday.

Cord Phelps provided a few highlights for the Scrappers, going 2-for-4 with a double and a run.

Mahoning Valley starter Matthew Langwell (1-3) had a rough night, giving up eight runs (all earned) in four innings. He surrendered 10 hits and two homers.

Miguel Fermin went 4-for-5 with two runs, a homer and four RBIs to lead Jamestown, which broke the game open with six runs in the fourth inning.

Jeremy Synan added three hits, two runs and two RBIs.

The game was delayed nearly three hours because of rain.
