Qualifying: Rain forced cancellation of Friday’s qualifying at Watkins Glen, so NASCAR assigned the starting grid based on owners points. That means the Hartford native will start in 29th position — the inside of row 15.

Today: NASCAR’s top series heads to Watkins Glen, N.Y., for its last road race of the season, the Centurion Boats at The Glen. Television coverage on ESPN begins at 1 p.m. with the green flag scheduled to drop just after 2.

Season to date: Blaney moved up one spot in the Sprint Cup standings, to 29th, overtaking Robby Gordon after last week’s race. Next on the list is Paul Menard, who is 108 points ahead of Blaney.
