Bemis anniversary marked by family at Niagara Falls

• GIRARD — The 65th wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Bemis of Girard, who were married Aug. 7, 1943, at Greenfield Baptist Church in North East, Pa., was celebrated in advance during a family trip to Niagara Falls, Ontario.

Their children and their spouses, Sharon and Craig Mitchell of Waterford, Pa.; Sumner and Georgene Bemis of Pittsburgh; David and Casey Bemis of Santa Ynez, Calif.; and Marilyn Bemis of Antioch, Calif., chose June 23-25 as the dates for the celebration, when they could all get together to host the event in honor of their parents. Also participating were their eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Bemis, the former Betty Gibson, who had worked at WFMJ-TV in Youngstown, and Mr. Bemis, a former employee of Goodwill Industries in Youngstown, are retired. They are members of Church Hill United Methodist Church in Liberty Township.
