Scrappers suffer a bad night, 7-5

The Scrappers lost Thursday and were trailing the Jammers Friday.

JAMESTOWN, N.Y. — Bad weather and bad defense led to a bad night for the Mahoning Valley Scrappers Thursday.

The Scrappers committed four errors en route to a 7-5 loss to the first-place Jamestown Jammers in a New York-Penn League game that was delayed two hours due to thunderstorms.

Friday’s games was also delayed by rain and storms. At press time, the Scrappers trailed, 8-1, in the fifth inning.

Thursday, Scrappers shortstop Lonnie Chisenhall went 2-for-5 with a run and two RBIs but committed his 12th error. Second baseman Isaias Velasquez added two runs and a hit but committed his 13th error. Walter Diaz added two hits and two runs, Cord Phelps had two RBIs and Brock Simpson had two hits.
