New Castle teen hospitalized in Lawrence Co. accident
NEW CASTLE, Pa. — An accident involving a dirt bike resulted in a 14-year-old boy being taken to the hospital today.
Pennsylvania State Police said the New Castle teenager, whose name was not released, was riding west on his dirt bike on Vance Road in North Beaver Township at 2:45 p.m. when he traveled into the path of Brian K. Becker of Wampum, Pa., who was driving north on Pa. Route 18.
The teen struck Becker’s vehicle on the right side, which resulted in the youth being thrown from the bike.
State police said the teenager, with critical injuries, was taken by helicopter to UPMC Presbyterian in Pittsburgh.
Neither Becker, who used his seat belt, nor two children in his car, who were in car seats, were injured.
