LIBERTY — Churchill United Methodist Church, 189 Church Hill-Hubbard Road, will have a free community corn roast from 4 to 6 p.m. Aug. 16 on the lawn behind the church. The event will include sweet corn, hot dogs, hamburgers, salads and desserts along with games and fellowship. There will be a concert at 6 with informal worship with special music and testimonials. Eleventh Hour, a Christian rock band, will perform at 7.

Healing drum circle

VILLA MARIA, Pa. — Villa Maria Education and Spirituality Center will hold a healing drum circle from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the outdoor labyrinth at the center. The event includes drumming, chanting, healing, meditation and learning the ancient wisdom of the American Indian culture.

Pat Evans-Morris, a licensed mental health counselor, licensed chemical dependency counselor and national presenter of rhythm therapy and yoga seminars, is the leader. She has taught drum therapy, dancing and the healing arts for 27 years. There is no registration or fee required, but an offering of $5 will be accepted. Prayer breakfast set

YOUNGSTOWN — Angels on a Mission of Peace will have a prayer breakfast from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Aug. 30 at American Legion George Washington Carver Post 504, 2225 Glenwood Ave. The cost is $10. For tickets, call the post at (330) 788-0000.

Mass, rosary for guild

YOUNGSTOWN — The Infant Jesus of Prague Guild will hold its monthly rosary at 9:30 a.m. Aug. 20 with Mass at 10 at St. Christine Church, 3165 S. Schenley Ave.

Revival planned

YOUNGSTOWN — St. Peter’s Missionary Baptist Church, 620 North Ave., will have a weeklong event with the theme, “Revive Us O Lord.” The Rev. William H. Wilson is host pastor. Sessions will be at 7 p.m. next week. Speakers will be: Monday, the Rev. Samuel Holmes of St. Peter’s; Tuesday, the Rev. Bernice Gordon, First Calvary Baptist Church; Wednesday, minister Maralana Martin of St. Peter’s; Thursday, the Rev. Frank Christian, New Grace Baptist Church; and Friday, Pastor Dion Holmes of Christian Love Baptist Church.

Rev. Heard to be installed

YOUNGSTOWN — Elizabeth Missionary Baptist Church, 1210 Himrod Ave., will have an installation service at 4 p.m. Aug. 17 for the Rev. J. Dwayne Heard, who was elected to serve as pastor.

Pastor Ernest Ellis will be the featured speaker. He will be accompanied by his music ministry and congregation of Antioch Baptist Church. There will be a reception after the service at the E.B. Family Life Center, 7 S. Garland Ave.

Double ordination

ATLANTA — A double ordination for ministers Jerusha and Mark A. Jacobs Sr. took place July 13 at Through Faith We Can Outreach with Pastor Barbara A. Davis and assistant pastor Darren Moore officiating. Mark Jacobs is formerly of Youngstown. The Jacobs’ ministry focuses on feeding and caring for the homeless.

Flame Fellowship

BOARDMAN — Greater Youngstown Chapter of Flame Fellowship, an interdenominational ministry, will meet Aug. 18 in Boardman Community Center in Boardman Park. Fellowship will begin at 6:30 p.m. with the ministry at 7.

Guest speaker will be prophetess Suzie Hammersmith, founder and leader of the Manifested Dimensions of the Prophetic. She also is pastor of Agape Church of Prayer in Bowling Green.

For Catholic Scouts

WARREN — Religious classes will begin next month for Catholic Scouts in Trumbull County who wish to earn the Ad Altare Dei and Pope Pius awards. The first session will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Sept. 3 at Blessed Sacrament School, 3020 Reeves Road. Deadline for reservations is Aug. 25. Workbooks are $3. Call (330) 652-5198 or (330) 759-1305.

Gospel program

YOUNGSTOWN — A variety gospel musical program is planned at 4 p.m. Aug. 17 at Mount Gilead Baptist Church, 2821 Hillman St. Mighty Sons of Joy will perform.

Outdoor service

MCDONALD — Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Girard and Trinity Lutheran Church in Niles will hold a joint, outdoor worship service at 10 a.m. Aug. 17 in Woodland Park. A vacation Bible school program will be presented. A picnic with food, games and music will follow.

Covenant Players

POLAND — Covenant Players will be featured at services at 9 and 11 a.m. Aug. 17 at Poland United Methodist Church. The international repertory company offers Christian drama. Founded 40 years ago by playwright Charles M. Tanner, the organization has some 60 touring companies.

Musical program

YOUNGSTOWN — The annual senior usher board musical program will be presented at 3:30 p.m. Aug. 17 at Third Baptist Church, 1177 Park Hill Drive. The Inspirational Chorus of the host church will perform along with choirs and mime groups from the area.
