Teenage boys linked to string of Lawrence, Mercer county burglaries
SHARON, Pa. — Police have arrested two boys, 13 and 16, for their involvement in a string of burglaries in the Shenango Valley, said Sharon Police Chief Michael Menster.
The boys are responsible for at least 10 house burglaries within the last month in Hermitage, Sharon and Sharpsville, police believe.
The pair are also facing burglary charges in Lawrence County, Menster said today.
They were arrested at 8:30 a.m. Thursday in the 1100 block of Cedar Street, Menster said, on warrants from Pennsylvania State Police in Lawrence County.
Menster said that after Sharon detectives interviewed the boys, the department decided it also would bring charges against them. His department is working with Hermitage and Sharpsville.
Menster said the 13-year-old is from New Castle, but he stays with relatives in Sharon. Two of three cars stolen during the house burglaries ended up in New Castle, he said. The boys are in a juvenile detention center.
