July 31

Domestic violence: A Poland man, 40, was picked up on a warrant after a Lowellville woman reported having been a victim.

Aug. 1

Drugs: A traffic stop near U.S. Route 224 and state Route 170 led to the arrest of a 31-year-old Struthers man after police said a small amount of suspected marijuana was in a cigarette pack.

July 30

Burglary: Someone broke into a home in the 30 block of Melbourne Avenue and removed $4,000 worth of copper pipes.

Fraud: A Mathews Road man reported checks missing from his checkbook and that a check was written to another person without the accuser’s consent.

Criminal mischief: A Brainard Drive man reported lawn damage after someone drove a vehicle through.

Drugs: A Poland man, 27, was arrested in the 4000 block of Hillman Way after officers responded to a possible medical situation, and charged with possession of drug-abuse instruments. He admitted having used heroin nearby, police said.

Arrest: A car was pulled over near Southern Boulevard, where a 16-year-old Canfield boy was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and carrying a concealed weapon. A suspected marijuana pipe and a knife were found, the report showed.

Theft: A motorist pumped and failed to pay for $62 worth of gasoline before leaving a BP Unimart station, 310 Boardman-Canfield Road.

Theft: A Youngstown man’s wallet was stolen while he shopped at a Market Street store.

July 31

Drugs: A Youngstown man, 52, was arrested at a Market Street motel and charged with trafficking in cocaine, a third-degree felony, and possession of drugs, a misdemeanor.

Theft: Two 14-year-old Youngstown girls were charged after 13 articles of clothing were stolen from Wal-Mart, 1300 Doral Drive. Also, a Youngstown woman, 34, was taken into custody on a probation-violation charge.

Misuse of a credit card: A Green Bay Drive man discovered two unauthorized transactions, one each for $126 and $29, had been made via the Internet.

Breaking and entering: Someone pried open the hinges to the door of a shed at a Bev Road business, though nothing was taken.

Theft: A woman reported her grandson’s $100 bicycle stolen from a soccer field near Risher Road.

Theft: Charges were pending against two people after $1,134 worth of merchandise was stolen from Kohl’s, 383 Boardman-Poland Road.

Auto theft: A Youngstown man reported his brother-in-law’s 1988 Oldsmobile stolen while at a Tiffany Boulevard business.

Recovered property: Youngstown police found a 1994 Chevy Lumina after it had been stolen at a Boardman-Poland Road business.

Theft/forgery: A Poland man reported a checkbook had been taken from his wife’s purse at a Boardman-Poland Road restaurant and that at least four checks were forged and cashed for a total of $830.

Criminal damaging: An Applewood Boulevard woman noticed a decorative glass globe ornament damaged in her yard.

Theft: A man left Giant Eagle, 1201 Doral Drive, in a blue Buick after stealing eight packages of steaks.

Bad check: A worker for Pettiti’s Garden Center, 5509 South Ave., told police a woman passed a $54.27 check returned for insufficient funds.

Burglary: A rear window to a residence in the 300 block of Tudor Lane was forced open, though nothing appeared to have been stolen.

Arrest: A random vehicle check near U.S. Route 224 and Interstate 680 led to the arrest of a Youngstown man, 40, when police learned he was wanted on a probation-violation charge.

Theft: A 17-year-old Youngstown girl was arrested near Indianola Road on a pickup order issued by the Martin P. Joyce Juvenile Justice Center, Youngstown, charging her with theft.

Criminal damaging: An employee with a Doral Drive business discovered the driver’s-side doors to his vehicle were damaged. Two boys had been seen kicking the car.

Unauthorized use of a vehicle: A Boardman boy, 17, was charged after his father accused the teen of taking his 2006 Buick Rendezvous without permission.

Menacing: A Boardman woman told officers her former boyfriend blocked her path with his car, screamed obscenities and threatened to harm her while she was on McKay Court.

Burglary: Three personal photographs were found in a yard after a Red Tail Hawk Drive man said his former girlfriend had entered the home without permission.

Theft: A man’s global positioning system device was removed from his car in the 5000 block of Southern Boulevard.

Drugs: A 16-year-old Boardman boy faced charges of trafficking in marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia after the homeowner became concerned that marijuana was being grown. Suspected marijuana plants, suspected marijuana packaged for sale and several suspected marijuana pipes were found, the report said.

Theft: A 24-year-old Youngstown woman was charged, accused in the theft of four pairs of women’s shorts from the J.C. Penney store in the Southern Park Mall. Also, a Youngstown woman, 23, was arrested on a felony warrant from Liberty Township charging her with telephone fraud.

Criminal mischief: Someone broke a videotape and threw the remains into a tree at a residence in the 100 block of Prestwick Drive.

Breaking and entering: Someone broke into a Melbourne Avenue residence via a rear window. Stolen were $1,000 worth of copper piping and an AM/FM/compact-disc cassette radio.

Aug. 2

Attempted burglary: A neighbor reported seeing a man trying to enter a residence in the 60 block of Melbourne Avenue.

Arrest: Authorities responded to an argument in the 100 block of Clifton Drive and took into custody a 41-year-old Youngstown man wanted on a warrant charging him with a probation violation.

Attempted burglary: Someone broke or forced open a window to a sun porch at a home in the 100 block of Melbourne Avenue.
