Men try to lure boys to their vehicle

YOUNGSTOWN — Small boys playing outside on Cambridge Avenue on the South Side became frightened late Wednesday night by two men in a black vehicle, possibly a Ford Ranger, who were driving slowly on the street and, at one point, tried to get the children to come toward them, reports show. The mother of two boys told police that the truck pulled up in front of her home around 10 p.m. while her children were putting on their shoes and the passenger yelled “Get on your knees, Jeremy.” The mother said no boys in the neighborhood are named Jeremy. She said when an adult stepped outside the house, the truck pulled off. About 10 minutes later, police were told that the truck had been at the intersection of Cambridge and Zedaker Street, where several boys were playing, and the passenger yelled “Hey, come here,” at which time the boys ran home. Officers checked the area but didn’t find the black vehicle.
