Man arrested, his dog taken

YOUNGSTOWN — The house at 1028 Oak St. was red-tagged as uninhabitable and the resident, John R. Beach Jr., 57, was arrested over a dispute involving his dog. Dave Nelson and Sean Toohey, Mahoning County deputy dog wardens, were at the residence Wednesday checking out a report of a dog chasing children. Beach allegedly yelled at Nelson “I will kill you if you shoot my dog, I know your name.” Nelson and Toohey removed the dog from the house that had no water or electricity, reports show. Beach was arrested on a charge of aggravated menacing and issued citations by a housing officer based on the condition of his property — high grass and debris in the yard such as trash and tires.
