MAHONING COUNTY Stability partnership


Spearheaded by the Youngstown/Mahoning Valley United Way and the Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County, the Mahoning County Financial Stability Partnership’s purpose is to help residents manage their financial resources. The partnership’s primary goals are:

Increase financial literacy: By providing financial literacy training and informational resource sites to schoolchildren, teens, adults and seniors.

Increase awareness of the opportunities to gain income: By providing assistance to enable more residents to take advantage of opportunities such as employment services and free income tax preparation services to get the earned income tax credit.

Increase awareness of the importance to save income: By providing training and programs that teach money-saving strategies and encourage awareness of the importance of savings.

Impact public policy: By organizing to influence the state and the federal legislative processes and public policies regarding predatory lending and residential housing foreclosures.
