Jammers rally to defeat Scrappers

JAMESTOWN, N.Y. — The Jamestown Jammers rallied for four runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to pull past the Mahoning Valley Scrappers 5-3 in a New York-Penn League game on Wednesday.

The loss spoiled a terrific night from the Indians’ first-round draft pick. Shortstop Lonnie Chisenhall went 3-for-5 with a double and three RBIs for the Scrappers (22-26).

Isaias Velasquez added a single, two walks and scored a pair of runs.

Eric Berger gave Mahoning Valley a strong start, tossing one-hit ball over five innings with seven strikeouts and a walk.

Mike McGuire (2-4) gave up four runs (all earned) in one inning to get the loss.

Miguel Fermin went 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles for the Jammers.

Jamestown (29-17) has the best record in the NYPL and leads both Auburn and Batavia in the Pinckney Division standings by 1 1/2 games.

Mahoning Valley is eight games back.
