Festival fanatics have their pick for another weekend this summer with the kickoff of three festivals: Sons of Italy 657 Italian Festival, Warren Italian Festival and Carnation Festival.

Sons of Italy 657 Italian Festival, 327 Main St., Wellsville, starts at noon today and will conclude Saturday evening. There will be no such thing as a shortage of food at this festival, and the entertainment lineup includes such bands as Frank Gallo, 5 Guys Named Moe and Route 45.

Warren Italian Festival, Warren Courthouse Square, West Market Street, Warren, begins this weekend-long festival with a little bit of competition. At 6 p.m. the bocce tournament opens up this festival filled with homemade Italian goodies and entertainment ending with a parade Sunday at 2 p.m. For a full schedule of events visit warrenitalianfestival.com

Carnation Festival is the greater Alliance festival that honors Alliance as being the Carnation City. The festival kicks off with the annual rib fest starting at noon until 10 p.m. This 10-day extravaganza hosts numerous events and provides plenty of entertainment. Various locations are used for this event, including The Carnation Mall, 2500 West State St., Alliance and Alliance High School, 400 Glamorgan Ave., Alliance.

Party on the Plaza strikes again in downtown Youngstown starting a 5 p.m. The main attraction for the evening will be Jones for Revival, a local band with a flare similar to Dave Matthews Band and O.A.R.

Other performers include Jazzam and the Devotees.

Theater buffs can catch two classic musicals this weekend, both of which have turned into smash movies. “Grease” is showing at the Straw Hat Theater, 2928 West 13th St., Ashtabula at 8 p.m., and “Mama Mia” is playing at the State Theatre, 1519 Euclid Ave., Cleveland.

To make it a double dose of theater catch one show today and another on Sunday. “Grease” starts at 8 p.m. and “Mama Mia” hits the stage at 2 p.m. Sunday.

When you go to STUNTFEST don’t expect to see Evel Knievel-like spectacles, but some of the most unique cars, trucks and motorcycles in northeastern Ohio. The “stunt” in STUNTFEST refers to the special paint, rims and other accessories on the vehicles. The fourth annual event, full of one-of-a-kind vehicles and music, starts today at noon at the Austin Village Plaza in Warren. For more information call (330) 766-0318.

If cars and trucks don’t rev your engine, but you are still looking for an outdoor activity, head to the Guided Tour at Fellows Riverside Gardens, 123 McKinley Avenue, Youngstown at 2 p.m. A guide will point out garden highlights and history during the leisurely walk among the vibrant hues of Mill Creek MetroParks.

Free outdoor movie showings continue at the Chevrolet Centre with “My Big Fat Greek Wedding” playing at 9 p.m. Monday.

If you make Monday a movie night, try on KT Tunstall and make Tuesday a music night at the House of Blues, 308 Euclid Ave., Cleveland. Tunstall, a Scottish-born female solo artist known for her first hit, “Black Horse and the Cherry Tree,” will play at 7 p.m. Tuesday. Tickets for the show start at $22.50.
