Amanda Maxwell earns American Miss title


STREETSBORO — Amanda Maxwell, 14, daughter of Michael and Karen Maxwell of Streetsboro, has been crowned 2008 National American Miss Ohio, based on her successfully scored events.

She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Kamrada of Boardman and Mr. and Mrs. James Maxwell of Poland.

Amanda will represent Ohio in the National Pageant, which will take place in Anaheim, Calif., at Disneyland during Thanksgiving week. She will have the chance to win her share of more than $500,000 in cash and prizes.

Contestants are scored on personal introduction, formal wear poise and appearance, communication skills in an interview, and participation in a community project.

Amanda enjoys music, singing, dancing and reading. She is on the academic excellence roll at her school and is a member of the choir.
