Workers return to Denman Tire after strike

LEAVITTSBURG — Work is back to normal after a brief strike at the Denman Tire Corp. production plant and warehouse, plant manager Steve Newell said Tuesday.

Local 98 L workers returned to work Sunday at 11 p.m. They walked off the job Saturday evening after a tentative contract was voted down 92-90.

The reasons for the strike could not be confirmed before publication.

“Everything’s back to normal,” said Steve Newell, plant manager. “I’m very pleased we got the contract, and I think the union is very pleased they got the contract. We’re back to the business of making tires.”

He said no shifts or production were lost because no work had been scheduled for the weekend.

About 230 workers at the Diehl Road production plant in Leavittsburg and the warehouse at Meridian Road in Youngstown are represented by the union.
