Beating the Spikes: The Scrappers, who swept the two-game series against the State College Spikes, are 15-10 all-time against State College, including a perfect 5-0 this season. State College, in 26 games against the Scrappers, has won only twice at Eastwood Field.

Streaking: The Scrappers have won seven of their last nine games. Meanwhile, State College is the coldest team in the league right now, having lost 10 in a row and 11 of their last 12. They are the only team not with double digit wins this year at 9-35 and 3-17 on the road. With Monday’s loss, the Spikes completed a five-game road trip winless. They dropped three at Batavia against Muckdogs and both games against Mahoning Valley.

Hitting streak: With an eighth-inning single, Isaias Velasquez has a 15-game hitting streak, the longest for the Scrappers this season and the fourth-longest this year in the New York-Penn League. He also has a 16-game home hitting streak which ties him for the longest in the league in that category. Velasquez has reached base successfully in 23 straight games. The league high is 24 straight.

Baselines: The Spikes are 1-33 when trailing after seven innings, 0-16 when on the road. … The Scrappers are a respectable 14-14 against division foes, while the Spikes are a league worst 5-23 when battling division opponents. … Mahoning Valley will take today off, then will be at the Jamestown Jammers Wednesday through Friday and return home Saturday to open a three-game series with Tri-City ValleyCats.
