LOUIE TODAY: Mob days in Havana; Blaming Wall St.


Louie b. Free, Vindy.com's news radio partner, will talk with noted journalist and author T.J. English about his new book, "Havana Nocturne: How the Mob Owned Cuba — And Then Lost It to the Revolution." The non-fiction work is an account of U.S. mobster infiltration of the Caribbean island in the years before Fidel Castro.

English will track the rise and fall of gangsters like Trafficante, Meyer Lansky and Charles "Lucky" Luciano, along with the political fortunes of Batista.

He also is a screenwriter who has written episodes of the television crime dramas "NYPD Blue" and "Homicide," for which he was awarded the Humanitas Prize for humanitarian writing in the arts

Later, another journalist, Orange County Register business reporter Mathew Padilla, will discuss his new book, "Chain of Blame - How Wall Street Caused the Mortgage and Credit Crisis"; and Dr. Mardy Grothe will entertain with anecdotes from his book, "I Never Metaphor I Didn't Like:

A Comprehensive Compilation of History's Greatest Analogies, Metaphors, and Similes."
