Liberty event canceled

Liberty event canceled

LIBERTY — National Night Out activities planned for the township have been canceled.

Expected bad weather put the brakes on the displays, games, food and car show slated to appear at 4 p.m. today in Liberty Center Park.

June Smallwood, parks and special projects coordinator, said the probability of antique car owners’ not showing up was a deciding factor.

“The cars will not come out if there is even a chance of bad weather,” she said. “I hear we are going to get high winds, rain and hail. We need the cars to come out in order to get a good draw.”

Smallwood said there are no plans to reschedule the event. National Night Out is held on the first Tuesday in August as a means of promoting involvement in crime- and drug-prevention activities, strengthening police-community relations, and encouraging neighborhood camaraderie as part of the fight for safer streets.

National Night Out Events will be held in Vienna and New Middletown.
