State awards funds to Kent State Trumbull and Salem campuses

State officials have signed off on repair projects at Kent State University’s campuses in Trumbull County and in Salem.

During its regular meeting Monday, the state Controlling Board approved $60,000 for renovations to the main building at KSU’s Trumbull campus. The facility houses the campus’ administrative and faculty offices, classrooms, a lecture hall and science labs. The Controlling Board also released nearly $77,700 for roof repairs at the university’s Salem campus and $18,520 for a fire alarm upgrade, including the installation of alarms, emergency exit lighting and signs throughout the building. State Electrical Engineering Co. of Canton is handling the project.
