Poland girls All-Stars roll 10-0 over Kentucky

AKRON — Marissa Trevis went 4-for-4 as Poland blanked Kentucky, 10-0, in the Little League Junior League (13-14) Central Region softball tournament Sunday at Firestone Stadium.

Emily Chandler and Meredith Testa each finished 3-for-4 to spark a 16-hit Poland (2-0) attack.

Kasie Serich threw a two-hitter at Kentucky (0-2) for four innings with six strikeouts while Chandler pitched an inning of relief.

NABF College Division

YOUNGSTOWN — Chillicothe scored four runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to defeat Shannon Fence, 9-7, in the championship game of the NABF College Division regional at Pemberton-Donnell Park Sunday.

Chillicothe earned a bid to the NABF World Series in Toledo.

Lance Durham’s two-run double was the big hit in Chillicothe’s winning rally. He scored the go-ahead run on Mike Trainer’s single.

Earlier Sunday, Chillicothe forced the deciding game with a 12-6 win over Shannon Fence. Chillicothe trailed 5-1 after five innings, but scored two runs in the sixth, four in the seventh and five in the eighth to prevail.

In games Saturday, Youngstown Metros lost to Shannon Fence, 14-8, and Chillicothe, 6-1.

Against Shannon Fence, Joe Iacobucci, C.J. Morris and Tom Clayton all had two hits and two RBIs. One of Clayton’s hits was a double.

Jeremy Goldizean hit three singles and a two-run homer for Shannon Fence.

Iacobucci and Dom Silvestri hit doubles to lead the Metros attack against Chillicothe. Iacobucci drove in the only run with a groundout.

Also on Saturday, Chillicothe defeated Brunswick, 9-0, as Justin Stegman pitched a complete-game two-hitter.

Warren AA

WARREN — Jeremy Krol outdueled Jeremy Hartman as Elite Shockers defeated the Mahoning Valley Knights, 3-2, in the Warren AA playoffs.

Krol struck out 13, while Hartman fanned 12, and both allowed six hits.

Elite scored the go-ahead run in the top of the ninth inning. Krol and Mike Johnson both hit a double and single.

Ryan Monti had three hits for the Knights.

Champion Marlins 10, Flex Strut 7

Joe Cvengros had two hits, including a double, and three RBIs to lead the Marlins. Lance Townsend added a double and two RBIs, while Tom Popadak singled twice. Winning pitcher Brandon Keck and Jake Gross also hit doubles, while Jason Johnson had two RBIs.

Will Sekula led Flex Strut with a double and four RBOs, while Adam Morgan and Sean Lucas both singled twice.
