East Palestine bridge to be replaced next week

EAST PALESTINE — The Ohio Department of Transportation’s District 11 has announced will begin work next Monday to replace the West Street bridge over the Norfolk Southern Railway in the city.

The bridge between Martin Avenue and Grant Street will be closed for 90 consecutive days for the construction. A local detour route will be posted.

The project will include the replacement of the existing structure, new approach pavement and sidewalks.

ODOT’s contractor for the $1.2 million project is BOG Construction Inc., from Berlin Center, Ohio. The completion date is Oct. 15.
