Backers go to work in celebration of Obama, Strickland’s birthday

YOUNGSTOWN — Supporters of Sen. Barack Obama and Gov. Ted Strickland are celebrating their shared Aug. 4 birthday by making calls.

Organizers are asking Obama supporters to volunteer their time to talk with voters today at the Democratic Headquarters in Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana counties.

Volunteers are encouraged to bring a food dish to complement the birthday cake at the events, held in honor of Obama’s 47th and Strickland’s 67th birthday.

The phone bank celebrations will begin at 10 a.m. in Mahoning and Trumbull counties, and noon in Columbiana County.

The parties are three in 100 being held across Ohio today.
