MLS

FC Dallas 2, Toronto 0

TORONTO — All-Star Kenny Cooper scored on a penalty kick in the 81st minute after Toronto FC’s Amado Guevara received a red card, propelling FC Dallas in the MLS Sunday.

Cooper then scored in injury time to secure Toronto’s first loss at home in 10 games this season (6-8-4).

Toronto is winless in its past six MLS games and 11 games overall.

Guevara was handed the red by referee Baldomero Toledo after appearing to strike Pablo Ricchetti in the face in the penalty area.

Cooper, who played in the MLS All-Star game last month at BMO Field, added another goal from 30 yards out in injury time.

Pastrana back on top

CARSON, Calif. — Travis Pastrana returned to the gold medal podium at the X Games on Sunday after an off-year, winning the Rally Car Racing Super Special, the final event of the action sports showcase.

One of the X Games most dominant and dynamic athletes, Pastrana handily beat defending gold medalist and movie stunt driver Tanner Foust in the head-to-head final run over dirt, pavement and jumps.

The single-elimination, one-on-one event, as opposed to the timed stages usually used for rally, encourages an all-or-nothing style that Pastrana embraced.

Clottey beats Judah

LAS VEGAS — Joshua Clottey and Antonio Margarito certainly know what it’s liked to be ducked and dodged by the best fighters in their division.

They also know that they’d better take advantage of their precious few opportunities.

A week after Margarito stopped Miguel Cotto for the WBA title, Clottey captured the vacant IBF welterweight championship Saturday night with a ninth-round stoppage over Zab Judah.
