Pet vaccinations offered at 11 Trumbull locations
WARREN — Pet vaccination clinics sponsored by the Trumbull County Veterinary Medical Association will be at 11 locations from 1 to 3 p.m. Wednesday. Cost is $10 per pet, cash or check made out to TCMVA. An adult must present all animals to the veterinarians with a leash and collar, even if brought in a carrier. The organization asks that no aggressive animals be brought.
Regulations require all dogs, cats and ferrets in Trumbull County to have a rabies vaccination. A first-time vaccination is a one-year vaccination. Owners are asked to bring a rabies vaccination certificate for proof of previous vaccination to receive a three-year certificate.
Sites are Bristol Township Garage, Brookfield Township Fire Department, Champion Township Garage, Church Hill Park in Liberty, Cortland City Garage, Howland Township Road Department Building, Hubbard Township Administration Building, Kinsman Fire Department, Newton Township Garage, Waddell Park Pavilion in Niles, and the Octagon Shelter in Packard Park in Warren.
Free school supplies available Aug. 23
YOUNGSTOWN — The Salvation Army, 1501 Glenwood Ave., will be distributing school supplies Aug. 23, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on a first-come, first-served basis.
Children must be accompanied by an adult in order to receive the free supplies, to include backpacks, school necessities and uniforms. Recipients will be given their supplies at the end of the two-hour event filled with fun, food and fellowship.

Vienna Township to take part in Night Out
VIENNA — On Tuesday the township will participate in the “25th Annual National Night Out,” which is sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch and co-sponsored locally by the Vienna Township Neighborhood Watch.
Free entertainment will be by The Wrangler Band (Country Rock). Bring your lawn chair or blanket to the Gazebo from 6:30 to 9 p.m.
National Night Out is designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness, generate support for and participation in local anti-crime efforts, strengthen neighborhood spirit and police community partnership, and send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and are fighting back.
All residents are asked to turn on their porch lights, lock their doors and spend the evening with their neighbors and the police department at the Gazebo.
Streets to close for fest
WARREN — Three streets will be closed in downtown Warren from 6 p.m. Wednesday to 6 a.m. Aug. 11 during the 24th Annual Italian American Heritage Festival. The streets are West Market from Main Avenue to North Park Avenue, Mahoning Avenue from West Market Street to High Street, and High Street from Harmon Avenue to North Park Avenue.
Kids’ history event
YOUNGSTOWN — The Youngstown Historical Center will have its second History Kids summer program from noon to 2 p.m. Aug. 13, at 151 West Wood St. The program is “History Detectives.” Young historians ages 8 through 12 will explore the past by using a collection of historic objects, photographs and oral histories.
