• YOUNGSTOWN — Nuptial vows were exchanged at 2 p.m. June 21 by Krista Lynn Kovach and Matthew Jon Schmied during a ceremony solemnized by the Rev. Peter Haladej at St. Christine Church.
The bride is a daughter of Micki Kovach, 6841 Tippecanoe Road, Canfield, and the groom is a son of Jon and Judy Schmied, 1937 Countryside Drive, Austintown, and Louie and Janine Emanuel, 14080 W. Calla Road, Salem.
Embellished with pearls and crystals, the bride’s white strapless gown featured a dropped waistline, an A-line skirt overlaid with organza, and a cathedral train.
Buttercup yellow gowns were worn by the honor attendant, Julie McCully, and the bridesmaids, Lauren Kovach, Gina Crilley, Danielle Howells, Kim Caputo, Rachel Carney and Alissa Kovach.
The duties of best man were performed by Michael Schmied, and groomsmen were Michael DeToro, Christopher Crilley, Daniel Procopio, Adam Schacht, Ryan Banfield and Adam Schnug.
The bride graduated from Youngstown State University with a bachelor’s degree in education. She is a Title 1 teacher with Boardman Local Schools and a sales associate with The Limited in the Southern Park Mall, Boardman.
The groom, a process engineer for Ergon Inc. in Newell, W.Va., earned a bachelor’s degree in engineering at YSU.
After a wedding trip to Riviera Maya, Mexico, the Schmieds live in Boardman.
